What Bluebirds Do

Pamela F. Kirby, who lives in Gibsonville, is a photographer whose images have been published in “Nature Photographer," “Birder’s World," “Photographer’s Forum,” “Wild Alabama,” “Nature Photographer Annual” and the National Wildlife Federation’s web site. She's also won the grand prize in the Birder's World photo contest. She has exhibited her images and she has also used them to raise money for schools and for wildlife conservation causes.

What Bluebirds Do is a true testament to Kirby's amazing skill, as she spent countless hours photographing bluebirds from inside a blind in her yard. Through her stunning photographs, Kirby teaches young readers about one of the nation's most beloved backyard birds by following a season in the life of a nesting pair of bluebirds.

Have a front row seat as a sky-blue male offers his young mate a gift of meal worms, the birds find the perfect place to lay their eggs, and the mother feeds her hatchlings a beak full of worms. It's exciting to follow along as the chicks grow from hatchlings to fledglings. They huddle near their parents, learning how to find food on their own, and finally mature into young adults, bearing the same beautiful blue feathers as their parents.

This sounds like a book my kids would love. We are frequent backyard birdwatchers. We've recently had several visits from a black capped night heron...very exciting stuff, lol. This book sounds right up our alley. Thanks for the great review. Love, love, love your blog. I am a bit of a children's book hound :D
